Summer Learning Journey - Day 6

DAY 6/22nd December
Activity 1
Once you have read these phrases you will be ready to leave the airport and head to your hotel. Take a moment and imagine how you might feel if you were standing in the airport in a foreign country and you had to figure out how to communicate with people in a brand new language. Would you be scared? Would you feel confident? Write a short poem that describes how you might be feeling (i.e. excited, happy, scared, nervous, etc).

Confused, scared really really nervous
I need translator oh no, there's no service
Better try late. Sorry Sorry I don't understand
I just haven't been to your land
Only if you were Japanese
Oh no I really really need to sneeze
Wait she doesn't even know what I'm saying
Oh no I better, I better start praying
Come on CHERISE just be brave
Maybe I should just Wave
Oh my gosh I feel like I might just die
Okay man up just wave GOOD BYE
Activity 2
Take a selfie that captures how you might be feeling. I think that I would most likely be feeling scared.

If I was in a situation where there was someone who talked to me in a language I don't know I think that I would be confused and really really nervous
Bonus round
Translate the following five basic travel phrases into Spanish, German, Malaysian, Japanese, Arabic or Afrikaans. Use the Google Translate website to do the translations.
Bonus

Nice work Cherry! I absolutely like all the work you are doing! Have a nice Holiday!
Hint ~ Adjust the table a bit!

Hi Cherise,

I love the selfie you took - it was very expressive! I also agree with what Aaliyahna wrote above, if you can edit the post so that the table fits on the page, that would make it much easier to read.

Hi Cherise!

That poem was FANTASTIC! It was down to earth but also really funny! I really enjoyed that and then when I scrolled down your picture was also very good! I think you're thinking "Is this for real?" in that picture.

Keep up the fantastic work! I bet the translations took a long time to find out.

Kia kaha!
